Friday Funday: All I Want for Christmas is You

This song is among my top 5 all-time favorite Christmas songs!

Tonight is my work Christmas party, but they're calling for a crazy snow storm starting at noon and the entire city is preparing to shut down, so we'll see about that!

Happy Friday! :)

Oreo Truffles: Major Party Hit!

I made the Oreo Truffles for a Holiday party last night, and they were a hit! I dipped them in white and milk chocolate, and then sprinkled more crushed Oreos on top. Yum!

Oreo Truffles (!!)

This amazing recipe comes from the adorable Jordan of NonSociety:

OREO TRUFFLES

What you need:

1 package Oreo cookies, finely crushed

1 8 oz package cream cheese (no reduced fat stuff, please…we’re talking truffles here)

2 packages (8 squares each) semi-sweet chocolate, melted (in the microwave is easiest)

What you do:

1. Mix 3 cups of the cookie crumbs with the cream cheese until well-blended.

2. Shape cookie/cream cheese mixture into 42 1” balls.

3. Dip balls in melted chocolate (use two forks and sort of roll them around until evenly coated; allow excess to drip off) and place on wax paper.

4. Sprinkle over remaining cookie crumbs and refrigerate at least one hour before serving. Store in a tightly covered container in the refrigerator.

Other decorating ideas: Adorn your truffles with sprinkles, colored sugar, or even edible glitter.

I plan to make these for a Holiday Party this weekend! Mmmmmm...

Christmas Is All Around

Love Actually is one of my top ten favorites of all time, and I easily watch it a dozen times until Christmas. :)

Recapping Thanksgiving

(Little Sister, Little Brother, and Me on Turkey Day
)

Here is a belated review of the fun I had while home in Pittburgh for Thanksgiving.

-- We made the 8.5 hour drive home Wednesday morning, and it was relatively uneventful aside from a traffic cluster in Virginia that pushed us back 45 minutes. Otherwise, easy drive home!

-- Wednesday night was the annual "see everyone you went to High School with at the local bar" night. Had a great time!

-- Thanksgiving! Ate my face off at the boy's family feast, then we ate another meal about 4 hours later at my Mom's.

-- Black Friday I slept in, and then did a bit of online shopping. There were no deals good enough for me to brave the crowds, nooo thank you. Friday Night we had a Black Friday party at a friend's house, complete with RockBand, Buzz Quiz and great friends. :)

-- Little Sister turned the big 2-1 on the 28th!! So we went out in Pittsburgh. We hit up the new Casino so everyone could "practice" for Vegas next month ;) We then hit up the bars until closing time, and I quickly came to the realization that I am waaaay too old for that scene!

Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Now it just needs to SNOW here in Raleigh! :)

Friday Funday: Empire State of Mind

I am obsessed with this song, the lyrics are amazing, especially the Anna Wintour name drop. Love. I'll be in The City in less than 2 months for the Gaga concert! I can't wait!

(Can you tell I'm a fan of the Sephora sets?) The Kitten Collection, $18 -- This is a great deal for both! And the eye shadow is great for day and night.

Target's Xhileration Flannel 3-piece Pajama Set, $14.99 -- How cute are these?? The shorts have little gnomes on them!

You're a master of karate and friendship... for everyone

Holiday Gift Guide: Brother

Every year I say I'm going to have my Christmas shopping finished early, but lo and behold I'm stuck at the mall on Christmas eve scrambling for a thoughtful gift. Well, not this year! I'm actually checking things off my list with a vengeance.

First up, my brother. Not only do we share a birthday, (he's 3 years younger) but it's two days after Christmas! So I always try to do well by him, and get a great gift. This year, he really wanted a camera. And lucky me, Slickdeals posted a helluva deal today: Fujifilm 10 mp Camera, 2GB memory card, and camera case for $80!

Additional gift ideas for Brother(s):
- A good bottle of Whiskey
- Hoodie, jersey, or hat of their favorite sports team: GO STEELERS!
- Nose and ear hair trimmer (seriously, what guy doesn't need this!)
- Portable Grills

Enjoy The Verve! Youtube disabled embedding of the actual video, but you can watch it here.

P.S. This song always makes me want to watch Cruel Intentions!

The Gossip Girl Threesome

Lizzie McGuire has grown up, no?

Acoustic "Whatever you like" is pure amazingness. Love.

This was a letdown for me, as I was hoping it involved Chuck Bass. Everything is better with Chuck Bass. Fact.

New coat and fuchsia shoes!

I stopped by Old Navy over the weekend, and picked up the Belted Wool-blend coat. It is a little big, (I got a large) but it will do well with layers. I had an additional 15% off, so I managed to snag it for $29! Can't beat that.

While at the mall, I stopped in Aldo, and picked up these fuchsia mary janes, on sale for $35. They're really comfortable, I wore them to work today and no complaints! I can't find them online anymore, but they're on the sale rack in store.

Dress Porn

This dress is AMAZING. The color, the shape, I DIE. Diane Kruger always looks stunning, and of course this is Chanel. Of course.

Band Aid Friction Block will change your life

This item has literally changed my life. A million thank you's to GiGi for recommending it!

Band Aid Friction Block is a miracle worker, ladies. As we all know, the first day of wearing a fab new pair of shoes is quite literally, torture. Blisters, aches, pains, you know the drill. Well, our savior is here! I put this on to break in new heels and not ONE blister after a whole day! Sure, I wasnt walking miles in them, but this is momentous considering the usual state of my feet after Day One.

AND! You can use it to prevent any other instances of chafing or skin rubbing. This would have come in handy when I was walking around Las Vegas in 108 degree heat in a skirt. Needless to say, anything to prevent hot skin rubbing on hit skin would have been GREAT.

Blair-esque

In a lunchtime jaunt to Tarjay yesterday, not only did I buy a 12 inch X-mas tree for the cats (yes, I admit Cat Lady status, but it was only $2.50!), but I picked up this adorable Blair Waldorf-esque headband. How great would this be for Christmas or New Years? I also found these cute blue tights with silver designs I may pair it with.
